A Message to fellow Indians

From one Indian to another, I would like to convey a message to my fellow Indians.

India is third largest GDP in the world. We are the fastest developing economy in the world.

YET!

It ranks 131 in the Human Development Index.

So what is the true meaning of Development?

Development and progress does not only mean having taller buildings and wider roads.

Developing infrastructure is not progress unless it’s sustainable.

Because this

won’t take time to turn into this

Meanwhile no matter how broad our roads become it’s useless till people actually respect traffic rules.

No amount of reservation for uplifting the backward class would help unless people actually start treating everyone equally.

The state of the art infrastructure is of no value unless people respect public property.

The best of cars and fastest of the bike are worthless unless road safety is a priority.

No amount of freedom and being western is progress, till a woman can walk back home well past midnight without being scared.

The need for bullet trains should be second priority to improving the efficiency of existing infrastructure.

Why do we need WiFi on railway station at a time when you have 1GB a day of data on mobile phones? While the railway website still sucks to the core!
Also, any idea how many man-hours are wasted due to delays? Solving a delay in long-distance train is a complex problem, but conveying it to customers is not! Why isn’t that a priority for the government? Because it would not bring them votes in coming election.

We as Indians need to focus more on improving our quality of life along with developing infrastructure.
